Tax Bootcamp

Beautiful sunny morning in Peak Towers as we anticipate our third tax booctamp, taking place in Dublin over the next two days (three if you're playing golf tomorrow...!). What started as a bit of a "shot in the dark" has quickly become our most popular course, with member accountants enjoying the chance to meet providers, learn from other like-minded accountants and simply take time to understand better the various options on offer. Tax strategies remain one of our strengths and with a really strong mentor team in place, our focus continues to be on activity such as introducer sessions. To find out more, get along to tax bootcamp or email any of the Peak team. Meanwhile, anyone for a Guinness...?!

Momentum gained?!

Really enjoyed the last round of Momentum meetings - it's always good to get in front of members and find out what they're up to and also how we can help them. Our mission really is to help our members and their clients develop Peak Performing businesses, and we get a huge buzz from these sessions, especially the meetings in teh bar afterwards where, often, most of the learning comes! Practice development always has been and always will be a passion of ours, and we have a real desire to see lives changed as a consequence of our work with practices. Anyway, getting a bit philosophical for this time of the morning - time for a KitKat methinks...

For many of you summer holidays are approaching - hopefully a time to relax, spend some time with loved ones and forget about the practice for a few weeks. Can you really relax though? Is your business in such shape that it can run without you? Are you one of those people on holiday who say "I'll just check my emails quickly, in case there's any emergencies"? Well, that's a rocky road isn't it?! As soon as you've looked at one, you look at the rest, start replying and before you know it, the "holiday" isn't nearly as relaxing as it might be.

If you'd prefer holidays to be exactly that - time for complete switch off in the knowledge that your business is in safe hands when you're away - then speak to us! One of the major areas of focus for us is practice development; helping you to run your business, rather than have your business run you. Speak to me, Douglas Aitken, if you're interested - you'll catch us on 0845 658 1830

Practice makes perfect practice?

We've just finished our third Accoutnants bootcamp and it was great to see and hear Ric Payne again. In a sense the message hasn't changed - focus on running your practice properly (after all, how can you advise your clients on business development if your own house ain't in order?!). More so than ever, we see our role at Peak to make sure you follow through and actually implement all those great bootcamp ideas - look out for more on that soon. Please feel free to contribute ideas and thoughts to the team here at Peak, we'd love to hear from you.

What's real?

As I write this, I'm sitting in central London waiting to present a tax seminar. It's a glorious day outside (almost as good weather as we experienced at our recent overseas conference, but that's a story for another day...!) and it's made me think about how sometimes a gloss can be put on things. Just as the sun can brighten the darkest corners of our cities, so can glossy marketing material mask a darker reality. Only last week, we found a contractor website stating quite proudly that their loans were "never repayable". Oh really?! You can guess what we'll be talking about at our tax seminar this afternoon....!
